Everyone:
We're putting together some "demo reels" of GWC for future projects, and as adroit as I am at dealing with audio, there's just no way that I could possibly sift out the best moments from the 196 hours 31 minutes and 20 seconds of podcasts -- not counting the 'cast coming this weekend. So I'm asking for your help.
We're seeking the moments that really helped to define GWC -- not just the funny moments (though we're looking for those, too) -- but the touching moments, insightful moments, guest moments, and the most interesting calls we've taken.
Assuming that some of you are willing to help out with this, I'm also looking for the best way to organize it. I'm new to the crowdsourcing concept, so if you have suggestions, please throw 'em out there. Should everyone interested pick a 'cast and report back on it? Or should we just all farm around in them?
Anyway, I hope some of you have a few minutes for this. We're looking to put the reel(s) together over the next two weeks.
Tracking Grid:
DTA 1,2,3: Uchiha Daisuke
01-10: 'talos
11-13: Rosaleen Dhu
14-20: 'talos
21-29: 'talos
30-40: Topgun
70-79: Uchiha Daisuke
80-82: Keir
83-89: Lady D
90-95: Solai
as done on the list? I posted those earlier.
I'm also working on .

How long or short of sound bites are you looking for to make the compendium? I'm more than willing to take a share of the cast-bag and sift through, I just want to know if you're looking for hip-shots, less-than-a-minute clips, or if time is irrelevant. (Lunchtime, doubly so.)

Chuck,
A while back I started going through the 'casts from the beginning. I took some notes and posted this thread:

Hope it helps some.

I'd be happy to help out. Perhaps a way to avoid redundancy is to use this thread to let each other know what we're listening too.
For example "Hey everyone, I'm re-listening to Podcast #95 right now."

I'm looking for both longer and shorter pieces. I'd say the bare minimum is something about five seconds long, and up to a minute or two.
BTW: I'm not looking for actually audio, but rather specific time code. Maybe we should follow this format:
Podcast #, Start Time/End Time: Description
Like, for example:
Podcast 1, 0:00/1:25: Chuck, Audra, & Sean Stammer Throught Intro
I'd be happy to help out. Perhaps a way to avoid redundancy is to use this thread to let each other know what we're listening too.
For example "Hey everyone, I'm re-listening to Podcast #95 right now."
I think that's a great idea. Let's do it and use this as ground zero for the event.
Thanks so much to all of you who've already volunteered to help!

I got 1 - 10 handled. We can pick up from there. Put a schedule together.

All,
In order to organize our efforts, reduce potential redundancy and ensure we are covering as wide a base as possible we should specifically state which 'casts we will relisten to. I'll maintain a tracking grid in Chuck's initial post. Although we can certainly have more than one person listen to a 'cast, where possible try and shoot for open blocks.
I will volunteer for 'casts 90-95.

I'll volunteer, but Solai, just assign me just any pair for now, nothing in particular, and I'll stock those back on the shelf and check out two more after that. (I'll even mind the Dewey Decimal system and keep everything nicey-nice, right, Herder? Eh? Eh?)

I'm in, can't get enough GWC. I'll start with 70-79 and the 3 Direct-To-Archive shows. I loved the Mass Effect Arc;) and also some of my favorite films.

If we listen to any episode pre-#75, is there a way to get it on iTunes again? I lost my archive a while back before Chuck took some of them down for space-saving. Can I just download the mp3 file straight from the site? If I can, I'll quickly sign up for a batch of episodes. I love frakkintalos' idea to note when old GWCers first posted.

Glim: You can get them from the blog anytime. They're all still available -- they're just not all in the RSS feed any more.
