Foundation Trilogy to be made into a movie series

Good news! Asimov's Foundation trilogy is being made into a three movie seires!

Strange news. It will be in 3D using the same motion-capture technology as Avatar.

Scary news. It's being done by Roland Emmerich.

I don't know about this... How is Emmerich going to turn Foundation into an action-adventure with lots of explosions?

Granted it has been decades since I read the first book, but I do seem to remember space battles in the book. But they were not the focus by any means, but with Roland at the helm that may no longer be the case.

Though he did do Stargate... Maybe we will be lucky and it will be more like that movie, and less like Independance Day.

ID4 had it's issues, but it's arguably the best of the movies tanstaafl listed. I haven't seen the last two admittedly.

Is it just the hokey plot and the Mac saving the world people have a problem with?

Oh god, I just IMDB'd him. He directed Universal Soldier... But, he also directed The Patriot.
