I don't know if anybody has been following the film version of Watchmen, but they wrapped principle photography and went into post recently. Zack Snyder being the fine gentleman that he is decided to release photos of the main characters all costumed up as the movie is exactly one year from release as of yesterday. Anyway I won't jabber on, just show you all the money, enjoy.

P.S. one notable exception is Dr. Manhattan, but I'm thinking from the look of these photos he's going to be pretty exceptional.

Holy cow, those look cool! I was not expecting something to look that good to come out of a project that has been in development hell for almost 20 years (this was supposed to be Terry Gilliam's follow-up to Baron Munchausen, I think). To be honest, I'm still not sure how this book will translate into a film (are they going to avoid all of the "documentary" text sections? They're not integral to the main story but they add a lot of depth to it), but seeing these makes me want to check it out.

I bet Alan Moore is bitching about it, though. Cause, you know, he always does.

That is awesome, thank you for sharing. The Nite Owl ship is pulled straight out of my imagination.

There is just so much story in Watchmen, I have to wonder how they are going to fit it all in a two hour movie. I am defiantly going to see it when it comes out though.

My guess is that they'll handle some of the originally-"inserted" back story in a different way -- effectively cutting out a chunk of the content, but keeping it in. That'd help quite a bit, though they're still going to have to re-work the story a bit.

The Pirate story is out, but it's going to be a DVD extra. If I heard this correctly, they're doing it as a "Manga-style" animation. I'm not sure if that means "Anime-style," of if they're going to "Ken Burns" over a bunch of still illustrations.

That makes me extraordinarily sad. I totally understand, but the pirate story colors the entire narrative.

It does, but I'm approaching this movie with not too high expectations. I'm glad if they don't change the Cold War setting or the do something to the ending. The ending is so important, I'd hate to see that turned into a Hollywood ending.

From everything I've seen so far, the ending should be just like the book. I know there was talking about making it into some sort of 9/11 commentary, but I'm pretty sure they decided to leave it un-frakked-around-with.

That's stunning. I can't wait! Any idea who will be playing Silhouette, Captain Metropolis, and Hooded Justice? They're not listed on IMDb. I can't believe this movie is finally going to happen! :D:D

I refuse to build up any hopes for the movie. And that way, I think I'll be able to reasonably enjoy it.

Pic DOES look pretty cool, tho.
