Hi,

This may sound like a silly question, a friend and I wanted to start a podcast to talk about what ever we wanted and we were told that Podcasting wasnt safe because of all the stuff that happens on the internet these days, why would someone think Podcasting was not safe?

I think it's good that you're aware of "Safer Podcasting"

Here's how I see it: I'm a big dude and can take care of myself. And I'm way less dangerous than Sean. So I figure we've got the security aspect covered.

YMMV.

Podcasting is not safe if you are giving up too much in terms of personal identifying details such as medical condition, marital status, tax bracket, and more. Do not give information out about yourself that you would not want printed on the front page of the New York Times as well as the Daily Telegraph. Set up a separate account to receive show-related e-mail while keeping your more personal account hidden.

In many respects those simple things are not a problem for me. I have had pieces run under my byline more than one would imagine. For the relevant podcasting project I am working on a show account is in place that is mentioned in the audio while my more personal address exists and is known to the GWC Three as well as others.

I will send you by way of private message a link to catch up with the non-BSG podcast project I am working on. Another thing you may want to search for is any archived presentation or other by Amber MacArthur relative to podcasting. Ms. MacArthur, New Media Specialist for CityTV in Toronto, knows the realm of podcasting quite well.

I can handle the relevant flashlight-related maneuver. I just need to find a bigger Mag-Lite. My personal one is out in Polynesia being put to use so I need to replace it.

Thanks! The idea about the seprate Email account is a good one, I have no plans on putting personal stuff out there. I do need to get a new headset microphone, the one I had the microphone part was to short and when I doing test sound checks to see how this works I could hardly hear anything.
